Armstrong Powerhouse presents a Pro sound pack for the class 52 diesel locomotive.
How is a Pro sound pack different to a standard one?
If a sound pack is classed as being Pro, it means that most, if not all, of the sounds used have been recorded using state-of-the-art equipment at an especially organised recording session. This allows us to acquire the exact kind of sounds we require to create the best experience within the simulator. In the case of this pack, all sounds were recorded from D1062 at the Severn Valley Railway. As well as excellent audio quality, Pro packs include separate cab and exterior sounds because as anyone whose been in the cab of a locomotive knows, there is really quite a difference!
What is exactly featured?
Distinctive Maybach engine sounds
Whine can be heard when the transmission is engaged
User operable two-tone horn using the space-bar and 'B' key
Separate cab sounds
Bogie run sounds to give the sensation of movement
Brake rub
Brake squeal
Cab instrument sounds
Realistic sound fading effects
Accurate volume levels. This means the quietest sounds are as quiet as they should be in relation to the loudest as per reality.
If all of that wasn't enough, we have gone beyond just sounds and also reworked the physics as detailed below:
Accurate performance physics
Realistic simulated three-stage transmission
Prototypical delay between moving the power handle and the engine responding
On top of all of that, for those own the DTG BR Class 52, six individually numbered/named BR blue reskins (with functioning headcode box) are included in varying states of condition:
D1005 'Western Venturer'
D1015 'Western Champion'
D1021 'Western Cavalier'
D1031 'Western Rifleman'
D1058 'Western Nobleman'
D1070 'Western Gauntlet'
Please note, this pack is NOT compatible with any external controllers such as the XBOX or RailDriver.
During the installation process, this pack will be applied to the packs listed beneath the 'Essential Requirements' heading towards the bottom of this page. Please see below for a video demonstrating them:
If all of that wasn't enough, an engaging scenario is included for the Riviera Line route which sees you drive D1005 'Western Venturer' between Paignton & Exeter St. Davids on a summer Saturday. This scenario uses the 1983 timetable but with prototypical 1975 traction and formations.
This add-on is supplied in download format only.
