Armstrong Powerhouse presents a Pro sound pack for the class 86/87 electric locomotive.

How is a Pro sound pack different to a standard one?

If a sound pack is classed as being Pro, it means that most, if not all, of the sounds used have been recorded using state-of-the-art equipment at an especially organised recording session. This allows us to acquire the exact kind of sounds we require to create the best experience within the simulator. In the case of this pack, most sounds were recorded from 86259 & 87002 at Willesden TMD. As well as excellent audio quality, Pro packs include separate cab and exterior sounds because as anyone who's been in the cab of a locomotive knows, there is really quite a difference! Finally, all efforts have been made to make sure the sounds are as realistic as possible. One way we have achieved this is by employing realistic volume levels which means that the volume differential between idling and full power is prototypically large so as to make you really feel the power of the engine when it revs up.

What is exactly featured?

Ticking spirax valve

Transformer hum

Distinctive radiator fans/motor blowers

Traction motor whine

Rheostatic brake fans

Compressor

User operable two-tone horn using the space-bar and 'B' key (separate versions for the class 86 & 87)

Bogie run sounds to give the sensation of movement

Brake release sound

Brake squeal

Flange sound

Cab instrument sounds

AI sounds - Fans rev up when moving from a stand-still and rev down when coming to a stop

Realistic sound fading effects

Accurate volume levels. This means the quietest sounds are as quiet as they should be in relation to the loudest as per reality.

From the roar of the fans to the wail of the traction motors, this sound pack is sure to bring your class 86/87 to life. During the installation process, these sounds will be applied to the InterCity Executive liveried class 86 included with the DTG West Coast Main Line North route, the BR Blue liveried class 87 included with the DTG West Coast Main Line Over Shap route, the DTG Class 86 & the DTG BR Class 87. Please see below for a video demonstrating the sounds:

As well as the sounds, an epic, prototypical 2 hour 5 minute scenario for the WCML North route is included where you drive a double-headed Freightliner service from Coatbridge to Carlisle. The perfect way to test the sounds out.

This add-on is supplied in download format only.
